But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
King James Version (public domain)
When you think about personal growth, you might envision a rigorous schedule of self-improvement. However, the most lasting changes in your life are not achieved through willpower alone, but through the patient work of the Holy Spirit within you. These virtues—love, joy, peace, and the rest—are not goals to be conquered but fruits to be harvested as you remain connected to the Vine. When you feel impatient or unkind, do not despair. Instead, invite the Spirit to prune away the habits that hinder this growth. As you dwell in the presence of Christ, these fruits naturally begin to ripen in your character, often becoming evident to those around you before you notice them yourself. Trust in the slow, steady transformation that occurs when you surrender your day-to-day life to His care. You are becoming a garden of His grace, watered by His constant love.
Prayer
Holy Spirit, I yield my heart to Your work within me. Please cultivate Your fruit in my life today. When I feel stressed or unkind, remind me to abide in You so that Your love and joy can flow through me naturally to all those around me. Thank You.
Today's declaration
The fruit of the Spirit is growing within me, reflecting the character of Jesus.
